Maternal Benchmark

Retained doelings for our breeding program are given the natural demand of being bred in their first estrous season. By the fall of their first year, any does that they are 10 months old or 80lbs are bred and ranked for their maternal and fertile successes. One of the Kiko's well known traits is their rapid development and we intend to take every advantage and further improve the breed's maternal ability. We have had outstanding offspring out of does birthing twins as early as 9 months old. The myth that this may stunt developement and limit future fertility is far from the truth, as some of our best producers were first bred at 5 months old. Our sire, DBB Jake, throws superior maternal instincts and any dam that may be middle of the rankings in these areas are bred back to him.
