All of our guinea fowl, ducks, and chickens are dual purpose birds that also work on our farm as insect control and compost production. During the spring and fall they are kept in our fenced garden to help revitalize the soil. In the summer months our birds free range forage for most of their diet. We purchase our bulk grains just down the road from a certified organic farm which especially helps us through our winter months. Ask about purchasing farm fresh eggs or fertilized eggs to hatch your own poultry.

Guinea Fowl

are incredible carnivorous foragers. This includes diminishing ticks and the risk of lymes disease on our property. They are relatives to turkey and provide us with an outstanding source of protein. Fun fact is that Guinea Fowl mate for life. The are always checking on their significant other and give loud alerts to all the livestock on our farm when there is any threat.  Most of all, they are comical creatures that never fail to entertain us on the farm.

Australorp

are descended from Black Orpingtons and we have found them to be our farm's breed of choice. After being imported from England to Australia in the late 1800's, they were  disregarded to their original breed purpose as meat birds. Australian Laying Orpingtons discovered were soon to be the worlds best egg layers. In 1923-24 an Australorp hen broke the world record by laying 364 eggs in 365 days. Their dual purpose breed qualities are best known by its calm temperament,  cold hardiness, large carcass, and outstanding egg laying.
